Position Summary

The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Bulk Deli Manager in overseeing the operations of the Bulk Deli Department. This role involves coordinating team activities, maintaining department standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong leadership, and a commitment to exceptional food quality and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Bulk Deli Manager in all aspects of department operations

• Assist with scheduling, delegating tasks, and supervising team members

• Ensure all merchandising, rotation, and presentation standards are met

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation

• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues in a professional manner

• Help with training and development of department staff

• Promote a positive, respectful, and productive work environment

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous experience in a deli, grocery, or food service environment

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

• Ability to follow procedures, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced setting

• Must be able to lift, kneel, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

• Valid Food Handler Card or equivalent certification (required)

Preferred:

• Experience in a supervisory or team lead role

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position operates in a high-traffic grocery store environment. It requires frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 60 lbs), and working in cold or refrigerated areas. Visual and auditory acuity is necessary to ensure safe and effective performance of duties.
