Do you have a passion for fresh food and leadership? El Super is looking for an Assistant Produce Manager to support the Produce Department in delivering fresh, high-quality products and excellent customer service.

Position Summary

The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing all aspects of the produce department’s operations. This includes coordinating team member activities, maintaining product quality and displays, and ensuring adherence to company standards and safety procedures. This role is essential in helping the store meet departmental goals while modeling professionalism and strong decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations and scheduling of produce staff

• Ensure quality control, freshness, and proper rotation of produce items

• Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards

• Support department inventory, ordering, and merchandising

• Help manage team performance and training

• Deliver exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized department environment

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a grocery produce department or similar role preferred

• Strong organizational and leadership skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and prolonged standing
