CNC Machinist

Company Overview:

Aerotek is hiring a CNC Setup Machinist for a first shift position in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. This role offers $35 – $55 per hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities available. You will set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes and mills, to cut, shape, and form metal work pieces to precise specifications.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a CNC Setup Machinist, you will handle setup, operation, and inspection of CNC equipment to ensure high-quality machining results.

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills, including Okuma, Cincinnati, and Magnum machines with OSP, Fanuc, or Siemens controls.
• Perform large manual lathe work, including heavy faceplate operations.
• Accurately set up and run CNC machines without supervision.
• Assist and mentor employees with lesser skill levels.
• Prove out programs and tooling, and edit CNC programs to improve quality and efficiency.
• Create new programs when necessary and consult with programmers to verify operations.
• Work from prints, sketches, process sheets, layouts, templates, and verbal instructions.
• Measure, adjust, and inspect machine parts for accuracy and quality compliance.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5 to 7 years of CNC machining experience or equivalent training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to set up and run CNC machines within allotted timeframes.
• Knowledge of CNC controls, programming, and tooling best practices.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and use of micrometers and measuring instruments.
• Ability to troubleshoot and safely improve cycle times and machining efficiency.
• Must have own tools (hammers, wrenches, pliers, etc.).
• Ability to manipulate large castings and safely set up heavy fixtures.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay range: $35 – $55 per hour based on experience.
• First shift schedule (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.).
• Overtime opportunities available.
