Financial Crimes Specialist

Job Overview:

The Financial Crimes Specialist investigates, monitors, and reports on cases involving potential threats to the Bank to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for filing applicable reports and escalating financial crime–related matters when appropriate. The specialist plays a key role in protecting the Bank from risks by ensuring adherence to BSA, AML, OFAC, CIP, and related regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze system activity and alerts in accordance with Financial Crimes Compliance expectations.

• Identify and assess financial crime and fraud–related triggers and associated risks.

• Appropriately escalate cases requiring supervisory attention.

• Prepare detailed reports and recommend appropriate follow-up actions.

• Provide financial crimes support to internal business units and first-line defense.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding suspicious activity.

• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory updates.

• Ensure all work is completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Bank Secrecy Act Requirements:

Adhere to all reporting and record-keeping requirements under the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering rules, OFAC regulations, CIP, and related policies. Participate in ongoing training to maintain compliance awareness.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• 1–3 years of experience in compliance, investigations, or related field.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.

• Strong knowledge of financial crime risks, money laundering trends, terrorist financing, fraud, and related regulations (BSA, AML, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act).

• Analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment on escalation.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• High level of organization, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail.

• Team-oriented with strong relationship-building skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

• Standard office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, or temperature changes.

• Extended screen time at computer workstation.
