Role and Responsibilities of Grocery Sales Associate:

As a Grocery Sales Associate, you will provide fast, flexible, and friendly service to customers while supporting department managers in maintaining operational and merchandising standards. Your role ensures a positive shopping experience and adherence to food safety guidelines.

• Deliver exceptional customer service at the front by managing scanning, bagging, and keeping the checkout areas orderly.
• Support Food Lion To Go clients through fast and precise service.
• Sustain adequate stock levels, hygiene standards, and proper food processing in the Produce, Deli/Bakery/HMS, Perishable, and Grocery areas.
• Utilize machinery safely, such as pallet jacks, slicers, and cash registers, for day-to-day operations.
• Stock shelves according to company standards, lifting up to 70 lbs and pushing/pulling pallets weighing up to 2,000 lbs.
• Shift any unused bottles and containers from the front to the back area as appropriate.
• Abide by safety protocols, food safety guidelines, and store procedures at all times.
• Help with fulfilling other responsibilities as required by leadership to promote seamless operations.

Required Skills and Experience of Grocery Sales Associate:

• Mastering the skill of communication and customer service excellence.
• Skill and interest in learning multiple tasks and technical skills.
• Comply with the age specifications for particular job tasks.
• Competency in handling physical requirements, such as lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs, standing for the duration of shifts, and working with cleaning and packaging supplies.
• The use of computers and other communication technologies is a key component in the execution of job responsibilities.
• Remain mindful of details when engaging in repeated hand and arm actions.
