Job Overview

The Home Lending Specialist is responsible for assisting clients with their mortgage and home loan needs by providing personalized solutions, guiding them through the lending process, and ensuring a seamless customer experience from application to closing. This role requires strong product knowledge, consultative sales skills, and the ability to build trust-based relationships while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies. The Home Lending Specialist will also proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell additional banking products and services that support clients’ overall financial goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers inquiring about new mortgage and home lending solutions.

• Conduct needs-based assessments to recommend appropriate loan products that align with customer goals.

• Guide customers through the full mortgage process, including application, documentation, underwriting, processing, and closing.

• Actively identify and cross-sell additional bank products such as credit cards, savings accounts, and insurance to strengthen customer relationships.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, referral partners, and internal colleagues to drive new business opportunities.

• Ensure compliance with lending regulations, internal policies, and S.A.F.E. Act requirements.

• Collaborate with processing, underwriting, and closing teams to ensure timely and accurate loan completion.

• Maintain awareness of market trends, mortgage industry changes, and competitor offerings to better serve customers.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 1–2 years of experience in mortgage lending, banking, or financial services preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and consultative sales skills.

• In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, loan structures, and regulatory requirements.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment while meeting sales and service goals.

• Proficiency with loan origination systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must obtain and maintain registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as required by the S.A.F.E. Act.
