Role and Responsibilities of Perishable Sales Associate:

As a Perishable Sales Associate, you will ensure quality standards are met, provide outstanding customer service, and support sales growth while reducing shrink. Your responsibilities include creating a positive shopping environment, following company practices, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.

• Uphold an environment of energetic customer acknowledgment, with a focus on quick, warm, and precise assistance.
• Give supportive and friendly help to colleagues.
• Make use of organizational tools like the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and ordering platforms such as Computer-Assisted Ordering (CAO).
• Take charge of accepting deliveries, entering codes where necessary, rotating products, and storing them appropriately.
• Make certain that all protocols related to merchandise ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and presentation are in compliance with company policies.
• Control inventory levels for meat, cold cuts, frozen products, dairy items, and ice cream to ensure availability.
• Prepare and grind beef following the guidance outlined in the designated production tool.
• Secure, mark, evaluate, and store meat as required.
• Regularly assemble, disassemble, and sanitize grinders to uphold cleanliness standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the department, all while adhering to layout and variety standards.
• Confirm compliance with standards in advertising and promotional content.
• Conform to the regulations, protocols, and customary procedures of Food Lion.
• Follow the recommended procedures for upholding safety measures in both food safety and workplace safety contexts.
• Spot hazards, make necessary corrections, and inform the Manager on Duty.
• Remain compliant with regulations on the local, state, and federal levels.
• Maintain a polished and professional demeanor by dressing in the Food Lion uniform, along with an apron and a name badge, to adhere to company standards.
• Participate in the prescribed training, encompassing Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Packets.
• Fulfill other tasks as directed by supervisors.

Required Skills and Experience of Perishable Sales Associate:

• The preferred educational background for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Conveys strong competency in interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer support disciplines.
• Aptitude and willingness to take on multiple tasks and fulfill the technical requirements of the job.
• Using specialized information to address issues effectively.
• Adhering to the minimum age limitations is a critical aspect to successfully execute the job responsibilities.
• Demonstrating the ability to handle the physical aspects of the role, with the opportunity for reasonable assistance.

Physical Requirements of Perishable Sales Associate:

• Implement the use of computers and other communication systems as needed.
• Perform repetitive actions involving the hands and arms.
• Be ready to consistently lift and bend objects weighing up to 15 lbs., frequently handle items of 25 lbs., and occasionally lift loads of 50 lbs.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand without breaks, ensuring to walk regularly.
• Manage the substances involved in cleaning and packaging operations.
• Reaching and grabbing objects is a recurring activity at waist height, with the occasional need to reach either higher or lower.
• Accomplish the designated volume activity requirements.
• Undertake tasks under harsh temperature conditions, whether extremely hot or cold, for up to 20-minute intervals.

Preferred Qualifications of Perishable Sales Associate:

• Experience in the operations of retail or perishable departments is a plus.
