Produce Associate

As part of the Retail Operations team in the Produce Department, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining product standards, and ensuring efficient produce operations.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Produce Associate, you will provide quality customer service within the Produce Department. You will ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise, while following company policies, food safety standards, and workplace safety guidelines.

• Maintain a customer-focused environment with fast, friendly, and accurate service.
• Be courteous and helpful to fellow associates.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of produce merchandise according to guidelines.
• Unload trucks for the Produce Department as needed.
• Use company tools such as ACIS (Average Cost Inventory System) and CAO ordering system.
• Comply with company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety policies; identify and correct unsafe conditions.
• Report all associate and customer accidents per established procedures to the Manager on Duty.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge, maintaining a neat and professional appearance.
• Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical job requirements.
• Problem-solving ability using technical information.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to use computers and communication systems as required for job functions.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Bend and lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Push or pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Stand for 100% of time with frequent short-distance walking.
• Handle substances including cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, plants/flowers, and household cleaners.
• Perform frequent reaching/grasping at waist level; occasional reaching above shoulder and below waist.
• Meet established productivity standards for the position.
• Tolerate extreme hot or cold work environments for up to 20 minutes at a time.
