Job Overview

The Preferred Relationship Manager is a sales-focused role responsible for the acquisition, growth, and retention of bank customers, with a primary focus on Preferred Program households and mass affluent prospects. The role involves proactively contacting and servicing customers, conducting needs-based assessments, and collaborating with internal partners to fulfill financial needs. Utilizing the Retail Consultative Sales process, the Preferred Relationship Manager works closely with the financial center team to increase referral opportunities, provide tailored financial solutions, and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.

The position also emphasizes risk management by ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and ethical practices, while delivering a superior customer experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute retail strategies to increase Preferred Program households, fulfill customer needs, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

• Build deep, trust-based relationships with customers through consultative sales and service processes.

• Simplify and communicate complex financial concepts to clients in a clear and understandable manner.

• Actively participate in financial center huddles and meetings to support sales and motivational activities.

• Provide guidance to the Financial Center team on referral and sales processes with a focus on Preferred customers.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of the bank’s full product and service portfolio, keeping skills up to date and seeking development as needed.

• Consistently meet or exceed investment sales and referral goals, in partnership with Investment Executives.

• Initiate and maintain regular customer and prospect contact through in-person meetings, telemarketing, seminars, and community events.

• Monitor industry trends and economic conditions to proactively anticipate and address customer financial needs.

• Deliver innovative solutions to meet both current and future financial goals of clients.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience in a sales environment; financial industry experience preferred.

• Certification in consultative selling and ongoing educational completion as prescribed.

• Series SIE, 6, 63, and insurance licenses required; Series 65 must be obtained within 90 days of hire for external candidates.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a revenue-producing book of business in the mass affluent segment.

• Professional image and strong public-facing skills.

• Willingness to travel locally or between multiple Financial Centers as needed.

• SAFE Act registration required at time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).

Working Conditions
