Overall Job Summary:

To achieve the Sales and Profit aims in the Store, the Retail General Manager is accountable for establishing a plan to provide the Best Customer Experience. The Retail General Manager's duties encompass ensuring the presence of a high-performing team, supporting their advancement, as well as engaging in talent and leadership growth and structured performance evaluation for the Store Team, grounded on achievements, principles, and leadership. The Retail General Manager operates in compliance with legal stipulations and H&M benchmarks, policies, and procedures to fulfill the expectations of customers and colleagues.

Under the supervision of the Area Sales Manager, this role manages a team comprising the Store Visual Manager (depending on store volume), Department Manager, Department Supervisor (depending on sales volume), Visual Merchandisers (based on sales volume), Cash Office Responsible (based on sales volume), and Sales Associate.

The Daily Grind

Sales and Profit

• Consistently review and act upon Sales & Profit KPIs to drive improvements and maximize profitability
• Execute store operations in accordance with H&M guidelines and industry best practices to ensure optimal performance in sales activities and operational efficiency. Utilize appropriate scheduling techniques to drive conversion rates, support business objectives, and maintain a high level of customer service, all while adhering to the allocated labor hour budget
• Partner with the Area and Store team to prioritize activities and offer insights on store allocations to secure a strong merchandise presence that significantly boosts selling outcomes
• Ensure efficient handling of store maintenance to meet H&M standards and take appropriate steps as required
• Take proactive measures with the Store Team to prevent losses and maintain adherence to Audit guidelines
• Participate proactively in the execution of store routines and responsibilities, which can entail tasks such as managing the delivery truck, processing garments, applying reductions, and changing prices

People and Teams

• Monitor and direct the hiring, education, evolution, and succession strategy for the Store in accordance with H&M's preferred procedures
• Analyze and supervise the Store Team members' performance, carry out conversations, establish development plans, deliver feedback, and conduct follow-ups, taking steps to enhance performance to meet the business demands
• Keep the lines of communication open and ensure that the Store team is informed about Business Performance, Company Culture & Values, and Country/Sales Market/Area/Store goals by organizing daily Store Meetings and weekly/monthly Leadership Meetings
• Guarantee that health and safety regulations, legal obligations, and security procedures are consistently met according to H&M policies and local laws, safeguarding the safety of employees and customers effectively
• Foster a more robust Company Culture by emphasizing the importance of feedback in our day-to-day activities and assisting the Store Team in implementing the same approach

Financial Accountability

• Sales and profit management fall under the jurisdiction of the store
• Accurate tracking of sales figures and working hours

Work Status: Salary, Non-exempt (Except for top-performing locations)

Retail General Managers can expect to earn between $59,505 and $66,944 annually
