Senior Credit Analyst

Job Overview:
The Senior Credit Analyst plays a critical role in evaluating the financial health, risk profile, and creditworthiness of commercial and individual borrowers. This position involves performing in-depth financial statement analysis, assessing industry and market trends, reviewing collateral, and preparing detailed credit recommendations to support sound lending decisions. As a senior member of the credit team, you will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, contribute to portfolio risk management, and collaborate closely with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Credit Officers to maintain high credit quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive financial and risk analysis of borrowers, including review of financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and repayment capacity.

• Prepare and present detailed credit memos and risk assessments for loan committees and senior management.

• Partner with Relationship Managers and underwriters to structure credit facilities that align with both client needs and the bank’s risk appetite.

• Monitor existing credit relationships to identify early warning signs of deterioration and recommend proactive actions.

• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

• Support loan portfolio reviews, audits, and regulatory examinations by providing accurate documentation and reporting.

• Mentor and coach junior credit analysts, providing guidance on analytical techniques, financial modeling, and credit risk assessment.

• Contribute to the development of credit policies, underwriting standards, and process improvements to strengthen portfolio performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.

• 4–7+ years of experience in credit analysis, commercial lending, or a related financial services role.

• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, accounting principles, and credit underwriting.

• Experience with commercial and industrial lending, real estate, or middle-market clients preferred.

• Advanced analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with financial modeling and credit risk software a plus.
