As a Manager of Visual Merchandising, you play a crucial role in creating a captivating and cohesive shopping experience for customers by enforcing visual standards and excellence in business. Collaborating with your store staff, you will apply your knowledge of current trends to ensure that the visual and commercial aspects align with set guidelines, effectively boosting sales. Your responsibility includes mentoring and empowering the Visual Merchandising team to enhance their skills, fostering a steady pool of talented individuals in your store.

A Typical Day

Being employed at H&M guarantees a dynamic work environment where each day presents unique challenges and tasks to tackle, although a standard day will involve the following duties

Customer Sales & Profit deals with the revenue and earnings derived from client transactions

  • Enhance the overall OMNI customer experience in your store by ensuring that visual and commercial curation align with the prescribed standards through follow-up procedures
  • Demonstrating a positive image of yourself and the H&M Brand through customer interactions is essential
  • Work with the Store Manager, Area Visual Manager, and Store teams to establish, execute, and review store visual and commercial objectives
  • Lead your virtual machine team in coordinating, scheduling, and ranking tasks in line with the store activation schedule, and adjusting as necessary to align with business requirements through cooperation with the Store Management team and Area Visual Manager
  • Coordinate with the Store Management team and Area Visual Manager to ensure that the most recent global campaigns and sales promotions are initiated and concluded promptly in accordance with H&M Brand Standards
  • Assist with maintaining the quality of clothing items, managing inventory levels, and providing recommendations for distributing stock to Store Management and Area teams
  • Review sales reports (KPIs) to monitor performance, pinpoint, and rank visual and business prospects with the Store Management team
  • Ensure your team responsible for virtual machines devises productive strategies to boost customer contentment in order to meet sales objectives, store targets, financial constraints, and subsequent measures in cooperation with the Store Management unit
  • Ensure that all store management team members are adhering to established protocols, operational guidelines, legal obligations, and communication standards across all sections of the store for OMNI services

Being knowledgeable about the latest styles and movements in the fashion industry is essential for staying up to date with current trends

  • Stay informed about the latest happenings in the fashion industry, including trends, styles, brands, and key players.
  • Train and mentor your visual merchandising team to allocate time for staying updated on fashion trends and theories, as well as creating mood boards to improve styling techniques and product presentation. This will help predict customer preferences and elevate the in-store shopping experience

Team & Development

  • Take charge by guiding, motivating, and enlightening your retail staff, ensuring they are well-informed about seasonal shifts, latest fashion fads, pertinent visual and business updates, as well as effective in-store messaging, encompassing pricing perception
  • Train and enhance the visual and business abilities of the VM and Store teams to ensure a top-notch standard of product display and commercial representation in line with directives
  • Support & develop daily routines and best practices for your Store team to always ensure a consistent level of visual & commercial standard while maintaining customer service engagement
  • In charge of handling the recruitment, orientation, evaluation, training, and growth of employees and new team members alongside the Store Manager and Area Team
  • Implement a comprehensive talent management strategy in your store to groom future professionals who can meet the demands of your business
  • Coordinate, offer, and implement training in visual and business enhancement for yourself and your coworkers
  • Ensures that store staff receive training in Visual Competencies & Commercial 4 All, aligning with the learning and development objectives specific to each region and sales market
  • Assist the Sales and Area teams by providing qualified staff for the expansion requirements of store projects

Executing visuals and commercial strategies

  • In charge of creating visual displays, organizing merchandise, and styling the store to align with the commercial calendar, inventory distribution, store events, and current fashion trends, following specific visual and commercial directives
  • Encourage your visual merchandising team to consistently implement proper procedures for selecting samples, such as maintaining accurate stock inventories of clothing items, accessories, and footwear, to guarantee that the visual merchandising team effectively translates inspiration from visual and commercial directives into coherent trends and narratives
  • Make sure your virtual merchandising team follows the visual and commercial standards to enhance the customer experience by securing window displays and styling in a suitable manner
  • Make sure your visual merchandising team keeps a steady flow of customers by organizing the commercial layout and arranging fixtures strategically to enhance the placement of trending products effectively
  • Make sure that both the Visual Merchandising (VM) and Store teams effectively maintain and display price signs in windows and across the store in alignment with the established guidelines based on the Global strategy and specific Sales Market needs
  • Collaborate with Facilities Management to confirm that all lighting fixtures are operational, positioned to showcase our merchandise and window displays effectively within the store
  • Ensure the proper upkeep and sustainability of all display structures and interior elements such as fixtures and fittings
  • Work closely with the Area Visual Manager to guarantee that your store's navigation remains consistent and follows the most recent guidelines and store design
  • Make sure your store maintains adequate stock levels for sales and promotions as per local standards
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and safety in both the retail area and the storage area in accordance with the security protocols of the region
