Welder/Fitter

Company Overview:

Aerotek is hiring Shipfitters for opportunities based in Calvert City, Kentucky. This position offers competitive pay, per diem for travelers, and the chance to work in a fast-paced shipbuilding and steel fabrication environment. You will join a team committed to high-quality construction and maintenance of structural components in the maritime industry.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Shipfitter, you will construct and fit structural components in alignment with specifications, drawings, and safety standards while contributing to shipbuilding and fabrication projects.

• Mark out piece parts for manufacturing and assembly with precision.
• Construct structural components according to assembly drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Interpret complex structural drawings, including weld symbols and material types.
• Read and apply fractional dimensions using rulers and layout tools.
• Perform fitting and welding tasks such as tack welding, MIG welding, and wire welding.
• Use cutting torches, grinders, needle guns, and other vibratory tools in daily operations.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA safety regulations in shipbuilding environments.
• Work in physically demanding conditions typical of shipbuilding and steel fabrication projects.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency with propylene torches and related shipfitting tools.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and weld symbols.
• Experience in shipbuilding or steel fabrication environments.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety practices in industrial and shipyard settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in commercial or naval shipbuilding projects.
• Experience with stainless steel fitting and structural welding processes.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay range: $28 – $34 per hour based on experience.
• $100 per diem available for travelers.
• Weekly pay schedule.
