Credit Analyst II

Job Overview

The Credit Analyst II partners closely with Portfolio Managers to support underwriting and credit monitoring. This role is responsible for performing financial and risk analysis, developing financial models, drafting credit documents, and preparing materials for credit reviews with limited oversight. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring risk is properly assessed and mitigated.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to support underwriting and credit analysis.

• Perform financial analysis, spreads, and risk assessments with accuracy.

• Draft credit documents and complete indicative credit information with minimal errors.

• Prepare risk-rating scorecards, covenant analysis, and tickler event tracking.

• Monitor covenant compliance, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.

• Run probability of default (PD) and projection models with oversight.

• Assist in preparing CAMs (Credit Approval Memos) and reviewing renewals for lower-complexity deals.

• Support Portfolio Reviews and prepare reports for client meetings.

• Participate in special projects and assist in training new employees as needed.

• Ensure compliance with Fifth Third’s policies, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.

• 2+ years of Commercial Banking experience.

• Strong understanding of financial and risk analysis, with experience in financial modeling.

• Solid knowledge of banking products, services, and corporate business structures.

• Familiarity with U.S. government regulations; local/regional market knowledge preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal banking systems.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Working Conditions

• Standard office environment.

• Minimal travel required.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay Range: $53,400 – $109,500 annually (dependent on skills, experience, and location).
Eligible for incentive compensation based on company, line of business, and individual performance.
