Overall Job Summary:

The Retail Business Manager is responsible for reaching the Sales and Profit goals in the Store by setting a plan to deliver the Best Customer Experience. The Retail Business Manager will ensure to have the Best Team and support their development, as well as work with talent and leadership development and structured performance management for the Store Team based on results, values, and leadership. The Retail Business Manager will work in accordance with legal requirements and H&M standards, policies, and procedures to meet the expectations of customers and colleagues.

This role reports to the Area Sales Manager and includes having the following direct reports: Store Visual Manager (based on volume), Department Manager, Department Supervisor (based on volume), Visual Merchandisers (based on volume), Cash Office Responsible (based on volume), and Sales Associate.

The Cycle of Your Day

Sales and Profit

• Regularly analyze Sales & Profit metrics and take proactive steps to improve performance and profitability
• Align store operations with H&M standards and industry best practices through the implementation of appropriate scheduling strategies that enhance conversion rates, support sales efforts, manage events, execute tasks efficiently, and ensure consistent routines while delivering exceptional customer service within the designated labor hour budget
• Join efforts with the Area and Store team to prioritize activities and provide feedback on store distributions to ensure a favorable inventory assortment that positively impacts selling outcomes
• Ensure that store maintenance is carried out economically while meeting H&M standards and respond proactively to address any maintenance needs
• Work in conjunction with the Store Team to actively prevent losses and ensure Audit guidelines are being upheld
• Be actively involved in the execution of store routines and tasks, which could include responsibilities such as handling the delivery truck, processing garments, implementing reductions, and adjusting prices accordingly

People and Teams

• Supervise and oversee recruitment, training, development, and succession planning for the Store based on H&M's best practices
• Evaluate and address the performance of Store Team members, execute conversations, establish development plans, give feedback, and conduct subsequent check-ins, and implement measures to boost performance in line with the business objectives
• Ensure that there is continual and transparent communication flow with the Store team about Business Performance, Company Culture & Values, and Country/Sales Market/Area/Store targets by conducting daily Store Meetings and regular Leadership Meetings
• Ensure that health and safety requirements, legal obligations, and security procedures are diligently implemented to the standards set by H&M and local laws, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and customers are upheld
• Strengthen our Company Culture by emphasizing the significance of feedback in our daily activities and enabling the Store Team to also prioritize constructive communication

Financial Accountability

• Ensuring sales efficiency and profitability is a key obligation of the store
• Accurate tracking of sales records and hours accounted for

• Capability to climb a ladder and use a step stool for elevated tasks
• Willing to work evenings and weekends with no limitations
• Those with over two years of relevant experience managing employees at a leadership level are encouraged to apply
• It is imperative to have basic computer skills like browser navigation, software interaction, and data entry in today's technological age
• Occasional travel could be needed to support other stores, attend meetings, and partake in training sessions
